Sprint Nextel Settles Age Discrimination Suit for $57 Million
Sprint Nextel has agreed to pay $57 million to settle a class action lawsuit which alleged that the company engaged in age discrimination in connection with certain layoffs. The case involved more than 1,700 older employees who claimed that they were moved into positions which were then eliminated through corporate downsizing from October 2001 through March 2003. This settlement is in addition to a $5.5 million settlement last year for a different age discrimination claim.
