| Only Last Four Digits of SSN Allowed on Paychecks |
|
California law requires employers to include either a social security number or other identification number on an employee’s paycheck. However, effective January 1, 2008, employers who use social security numbers can only print the last four digits on the paycheck. Employers should make any necessary payroll system and/or record keeping adjustments so that they will be in compliance by the deadline.
